Seminar – Circular economy: transboundary solutions for smart cities

On Wednesday the 11th of July, we will showcase examples of the Dutch approach towards circular economy . For a global transition we need international collaboration. During the seminars we will highlight current project in Singapore and the Netherlands and to discuss how government, academia and industry can leverage the full potential of circular economy.

Date:                  Wednesday 11 July 2018
Time:                  2.45-5.30pm
Location:          Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Level 4, Room 4403&4404

The transition to a circular economy is an international challenge and moving forward can be accelerated by international collaboration. The Netherlands has the ambition to be a circular economy by 2050, Singapore has the closing the waste loop initiative and marked 2018 as the Climate Action Year. Both countries can learn from each other and combine forces to innovate and find solutions in the field of resource recovery.

The session will highlight the most challenging urban waste streams, the value that can be found in these waste streams (resource recovery) and the role that government, knowledge institutes and industry have to play in leveraging this potential. How can we really start the paradigm shift that the circular economy promises to be? What is needed in terms of policy and technology, but also citizens involvement to make it work? And how do we develop a framework and holistic approach for this transition?

The seminar is organised by Holland Innovation Network & Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
